COVID-19: No passenger train till 31st March 2020
The government has taken a big decision in view of the danger of Coronavirus. Residential Affairs Secretary DS Mishra, in a message sent to the metro companies, said, “In view of the prevailing scene of corona virus, it has been decided to discontinue the Metro Rail services on all the networks across the country by 31 March 2020. According to the announcement issued by PIB, in view of the action being taken on the corona virus, Indian Railways closed all passenger train services including premium train, mail / express, passenger, suburban train, Kolkata Metro Rail, Konkan Railway till 31 March. Have decided to do. However, very limited services of suburban trains and Kolkata Metro Rail will continue till 22 March.
The DMRC has also tweeted and informed about the closure of Metro services till 31 March.
The announcement says that trains which have started their journey before four o’clock on March 22 will go to their destination, adequate arrangements will be made for the passengers. To ensure the supply of essential goods, the movement of freight trains will continue. Passengers can take a full refund of all canceled trains by 21 June.
Earlier, a source said that only 400 Mail Express trains are running now. These trains will stop once they reach the destination. Not a single train will run after that. Indian Railways earlier announced to not charge any cancellation fee for the cancelled trains in the view of coronavirus pandemic. Train passengers will get 100% refund for these cancelled trains. Railways also eased refund rules for passengers who had booked tickets to travel between March 21 and April 15. Anyone can for apply for their refund till June 21
